The new studies submitted by the Summers End Group in December 2019 contain a large quantity of technical information, including seismic (geotechnical) studies and a sediment transport numerical model estimating the impact area from marina construction and operation.
We’ve spent many, many hours reviewing this material and analysing its shortcomings, which are highly significant. The seismic studies are limited in extent and the reported results are questionable given the known composition of Coral Bay sediments.
The numerical modeling study suffers from multiple defects. Most notably it does not take proper account of the sediment grain size found in inner Coral Harbour, and it does not accurately model the current gradient in the water column. It also fails to look at transport currents and it has an incorrect statistical analysis.
The documents below, including the cover letter from Attorney Robb Fox, document these findings. We hope that the Army Corps and NOAA NMFS will take all of this into consideration in the course of their internal review.
