November 2021 Petition to the Army Corps of Engineers

On November 30, 2021, Save Coral Bay submitted a petition to the United States Army Corps of Engineers requesting that they DENY the permit for the “St John Marina” requested by the Summers End Group LLC.  This permit is required for the construction of a 30-acre mega yacht marins covering over half of inner Coral Harbor, built on top of prime green sea turtle foraging grounds and with extensive impacts to endangered species, critical and protected habitats, water quality, and historic and cultural resources.

Since the actual petition includes personal information (full name and email address) it cannot be reproduced here in its entirety.  Instead we are publishing the cover letter and all of the attachments with certain critical information deleted to protect personal privacy.

The full submission to the Army Corps consists of five parts:

  1. Cover Letter providing background for the petition and the reasons for denial by the Army Corps, including references to the Code of Federal Regulations governing public interest determinations by the Corps
  2. Table of Contents for the attachments
  3. Table of Selected Public Comments, which includes about 150 of the individual comments submitted with the petition (out of 2,800 total comments) representative of the issues of greatest public concern.
  4. Key to the Table of Signatories describing the contents of the signatories data.
  5. The Table of Signatories, with 16,733 individual signers and the petition(s) signed by each individual.
  6. The full text of the petitions previously submitted and included in this submission.
